Modeling the Characters

Our goal is to create 3D models of the vaudeville performers that match the physical appearance of the historical figures
as closely as possible. Our character modelers Vinny Argentina and Carl Ahlund used Alias/Wavefront’s Maya to model
and texture the performer models.

In most cases, as with Frank Bush, we must rely on photographs and verbal descriptions of the performers.

In the case of Sandow, who had one of the most famous and well-documented bodies of his time, we also drew on two films of
Sandow created by Thomas Edison – among the first films ever made – and detailed measurements of Sandow’s muscles taken
in 1894 by Dr. Dudley Allen Sargent of Harvard University.
